I'm such a handsome dog...

It's just that I don't always show my best side. It's the black and white contrast that does it. But this time the Devon evening sunlight brought out even my eyes...

Do you think they coordinate with my ball?

Muttley dog loves it when other dogs come to stay in the cottage and lodges...

Here is Sarge! Stand to attention! Wow what a beautiful dog.

Mutts had a great time racing around with his new doggy friend. Unfortunately Sarge's owners were only here for a short break in Otter cottage. Come back soon!

Muttley Dog's secret squirrel obsession

I have been far to busy to go on any Devon walks for the last few days because of the squirrel.
It's up there.
I know it.
I just know it.

I want it!

I'm prepared to sit in this snow all day, focussing on the hole where it went in.

It's not that cold really when your mind is on something else...

Do dogs do snow? They do in Devon

Snow in Devon - but Muttley dog doesn't seem to mind cold feet. In fact he's been racing around like a puppy!

Muttley takes a short holiday to the Jurassic Coast

Muttley - not content with his Devon holiday life - has been taking a short break to the Jurassic Coast. That black and white dot is him.

Look a little closer and some of the white is a lampshade. Poor Muttley. Can't leave his feet alone at the moment and the lamp shade is the only way to give them a break to heal up. Didn't seem to put him off though.

We've been to Charmouth in Dorset to be precise, where Muttley Dog looked on in despair as adults and children alike gazed resolutely at the ground hoping to see - what? Long-dead animals stuck in rock. Muttley was far more interested in real live animals, particularly other dogs with waggy tails, even more in the bloke with the bag of bread, standing where the stream hit the beach. He seemed happy to share his food not only with dogs but with ducks and other lovely flappy things....

Scenery was good too. Plenty of dogs on the beach - not sure whether that's allowed all year or not, but certainly not a problem in January. Large cheap car park, interesting heritage centre (should have gone there first for the top tips on fossil hunting really). It was bitterly cold, but actually less so on the beach itself than at the car park, where the cold wind seemed to be racing down the valley.

We found a few fossils, enough to keep the kids happy anyway. Good place for a holiday trip I reckon. Of course, we'll always vote for Devon, but you can't stay at home all the time can you Muttley?!

Muttley's Christmas

Christmas Day in Devon, and we all go out. This time to Dartmoor, beyond the army camp at Okehampton.

It's parky out here...

What's that? A pony?

Can't eat those - where's my Christmas bone then?
